Institute for Geo informatics (ifgi) at the University of Munster is one of the world wide leading institutions in GI Science research. With its Masters program in Geo informatics, ifgi offers a one-semester scholarship (April 1 – August 31, 2011) for world-wide outside students.

Scholarship program for undergraduate students in power engineering
Utility Wind Integration Group (UWIG) Board of Directors has established as one of its goals furthering the education of students enrolled in accredited college or vocational schools in programs related to power engineering, wind energy, or the maintenance of wind turbines. Towards this end, each year UWIG may award up to three scholarships each. Up to two $2,000 scholarships will be granted to undergraduate students enrolled in accredited engineering schools who are pursuing a career in power engineering with a focus on or major in wind generation, and one $1,000 scholarship will be granted to a student enrolled in an accredited wind technician program. The scholarships cover a single academic year and are not renewable.
Application Instructions
The UWIG Board will determine the winner of each scholarship based on grade point average as well as a short essay explaining why the student is pursuing a career related to wind generation. The recipients of these scholarships will be recognized at UWIG’s Annual Membership Meeting each spring.

VIPS Post-doctoral training is a pioneer programme with special support from the Austrian government and the City of Vienna. The mission of this programme is to offer an excellent environment to post-doctoral scientists and to support them on their way to scientific independence.
VIPS offers new international PostDocs a 3 to 5 year long post-doctoral training at the MFPL with the specific aim of preparing them for a career as principal investigators. To increase the chances for success and the establishment of their own research groups, the VIPS PostDocs will be encouraged to develop their own research topics and apply for independent grants in the second half of their training. During the final phase of their training, VIPS PostDocs will be supported as they apply for group leader positions outside the MFPL.
VIPS calls will be announced biannually and candidates selected through a competitive procedure. Successful applicants will be affiliated with one or two of the eligible research groups at the MFPL. Post-docs will also choose an independent postdoctoral mentor from the faculty that will provide additional advice and career support. The VIPS programme actively supports scientists who wish to combine family life with a successful career.
