Post-doctoral position in stereoscopic 3D cinema at the Centre for Vision Research, York University, Toronto, Canada
Post-doctoral position in stereoscopic 3D cinema at the Centre for Vision Research, York University, Toronto, Canada
3D cinema is experiencing a burst of popularity unmatched since the early 1950’s. Along with the advances in projection technology and film capture we have seen a growing interest in the human perceptual factors that determine the success of a given technique. It is an exciting time to study stereoscopic vision and we are pleased to announce that a post-doctoral position is available at York University’s Centre for Vision Research, to do just that.
We are seeking an enthusiastic collaborator to participate in research in 3D (stereoscopic) cinema. The position is funded via an exciting multidisciplinary grant awarded to Rob Allison (Department of Computer Science and Engineering), Ali Kazimi (Department of Film) and Laurie Wilcox (Department of Psychology). The project will investigate a number of issues related to the capture and production of 3D film and will involve close collaboration with several industrial partners. Read more
Postdoctoral Position in Molecular Genetics, the University of Antwerp, Belgium
Postdoctoral Position in Molecular Genetics, the University of Antwerp, Belgium
The VIB Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Antwerp is looking for a Postdoctoral scientist in Molecular Genetics
Context:
VIB is an autonomous research institute conducting pioneering research in the life sciences. Clustered around a broad range of disciplines (molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, structural biology, genetics, proteomics, …), the research at VIB intends to gather innovative basic knowledge on normal, abnormal, or pathological processes occurring in an organism (humans, plants, micro-organisms) using gene technological research. Through a close partnership with the 4 Flemish Universities of Ghent, Leuven, Antwerp and Brussels, VIB unites the great expertise and broad experience of about 1200 researchers and technicians. Together with these universities and a strong backbone funding, VIB continuously invests to stimulate top research, to pursue an active technology transfer policy towards its research findings and to communicate the gathered scientific information to the broad public. Fulbright Israel Post-Doctoral Fellowships for American Researchers in All Academic Disciplines in Israel
Fulbright Israel Post-Doctoral Fellowships for American Researchers in All Academic Disciplines, Israel
The United States-Israel Educational Foundation (USIEF), the Fulbright commission for Israel, offers 10 fellowships to American post-doctoral researchers in support of work to be carried out at Israeli universities during the course of the 2011/2012-2012/2013 academic years.
The US Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program is open to candidates in all academic disciplines.
Program grants total $40,000, $20,000 per academic year.
Program fellows must be accepted as post-doctoral researchers by Israeli host institutions, which agree to provide them with a standard post-doctoral grant, which they will receive in addition to their Fulbright Fellowship. Thus, the total financial support received by Program Fellows is likely to be in the range of at least $35,000-$40,000 per year.
Applications for 2011/2012-2012/2013 Fulbright Post-Doctoral Fellowships must be submitted to the Council for International Exchange of Scholars by August 2, 2010. Read more
The Netherlands: PhD position in Optimization at Tilburg University
PhD position in Optimization at Tilburg University, The Netherlands
The Department of Econometrics and Operations Research of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management at Tilburg University is offering the following position:
PhD position for the NWO project:
Solving Quadratic Assignment Problems with Algebraic Symmetry via Semidefinite Programming
Project description:
The quadratic assignment problem (QAP) is well known in operations research (mathematical programming) and arises from applications as diverse as electronic circuit testing and hospital facility location. It is also famously hard to solve QAP instances, even ones of moderate size. In this project we will revisit the possibility of solving QAP problems using semidefinite programming in a branch and bound setting. In particular, we will use modern techniques from algebraic combinatorics to exploit algebraic structures in the data where present.
